Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (MIIT), an institute under Universiti Kuala Lumpur marks another history on August 5, 2008 as it sealed an MoU with one of an internationally recognised institute in IT, Geneva Information Technology Institute (GITI), based in Switzerland.Recently awarded as Institusi Pendidikan MARA (IPMA) Terbaik 2008, MIIT has expanded its wings as the centre for both Malaysian and Swiss in pursuing their knowledge in IT. Programmes offered by MIIT include CCNA/P (networking), e-commerce council (e-commerce) and security. The programmes are expected to commence next March 2009 at UniKL City Campus. Thru this collaborative effort, MIIT promotes the concept of edu-tourism as the participants from Malaysia and Switzerland will have the opportunity to explore the culture of both countries during their academic years. This important partnership served as a gateway for MIIT to send their lecturers and students furthering their studies in Switzerland as well as to path a strategic linkage for ICT applications through UniKL’s technopreneur products at global arena since Geneva is the centre of many international organisations. For the signing, UniKL was represented by Prof. Dr. Mohd. Azemi Mohd. Noor, Deputy President (Technology & Academic) while GITI was represented by Mr. Larbi Zine-Eddine, its CEO. The signing was witnessed by His Excellency Dr. Urs Stemmler, the Ambassador of Switzerland. The ceremony ended with luncheon where all guests were entertained with cultural performances by MIIT students. ***Geneva Information Technology Institute (GITI) is an Information Technology school based in Geneva in Switzerland. Since 1996, with a multinational student body and faculty, it has focused on educational training systems practice oriented with complete programs preparing for high level diplomas and degrees in responds to the growing demands of the IT market. GITI has been awarded with the Eduqua Swiss Quality Label which recognised the institute as certified education institution in Switzerland. With this recognition, GITI has fulfilled the six fundamental criteria to receive the certificate; the course offered, communication with clients, value performance, academicians, learning success and quality assurance and development.
